Baby Nubian Goats - March 10 2024

We got to experience our first birthing of baby goats. Our momma goat Tilly did wonderful and is continue to show just how good of a momma she really is.

Before this moment I took to the internet and tried to learn and take notes of everything I possibly could to prepare us for this.

We stood back and let Tilly tend to her babies and watched them all bond.

I did step in to make sure the babies both latched and then stayed with them and watched to make sure that they could also latch on their own.

Iodine was used to clean and sterilize their umbilical cords. I used the cap as suggested in the most informative video I could find.

Nutri-drench was also used. 2 pumps for each baby and I gave momma goat a few pumps also to make sure she got the extra supplements that she needs as well.

Currently, momma goat is extra full so she will be milked where she has just enough left for the babies and hopefully give her some relief.

The Brick Path

Brick Walkway / Repurposed Bricks   Before the mud trail returned from the dogs that they form over winter / beginning of spring I had to find a solution. My mud trail problem was solved and the look it brought was even better than imagined and added bonus I have more spots to put for plants. First - I dug out the path. About 2 inches of dirt to help prevent weeds and this also helped with making sure they were all level with each other. My 3 year old loved helping me with this part. I was able to utilize the extra dirt in other places around the yard so another added bonus.  Second -  Lay material down (tarp, boxes, or whatever material you choose to use) to help prevent the weeds from coming up under the bricks. Third -Pick the layout of your bricks. I laid them all the same direction and went with a slight angle...
