Goat Milking Stand

Goat Milking Stand

Recently got a day off and so thankful my son helped me build our much needed goat milking stand. I used a few different plans to plan our build. We also customized it based on the materials we already had available and kept in mind the size we need for our mini Nubian goats.

Material list
  • 4 - 20 in. 2x4s for the legs
  • 2 - 46 in. 2x4s for the long sides (we used the longest we had that were already cut to save us some cutting)
  • 2 - 24 in. 2x4s for the width of the floor frame
We had leftover tongue and groove wood leftover from our pole barn build we cut to size to fit the total width of our floor frame and used scrap 2x4s for the rest

Head frame:
  • 2- 38 in 2x4s
  • 2- measured to size leftover wood pieces on either side of the 38 in 2x4s
  • 2 - Left over spindles (1 screwed down while the other left with one screw to be able to move back and forth when needed)
We just used hay twine to fasten together when needed but you depending on your preference you could also use a latch or whatever you’d like for this.

For the feeder we used plastic feeders from Amazon but you could also build this out of scrap wood as well if you wish.

The Brick Path

Brick Walkway / Repurposed Bricks   Before the mud trail returned from the dogs that they form over winter / beginning of spring I had to find a solution. When we bought the cabin we came across a skid load of bricks in one of the existing buildings. So what better way to repurpose them then to make a brick path. My mud trail problem was solved and the look it brought was even better than imagined and added bonus I have more spots to put for plants. First - I dug out the path. About 2 inches of dirt to help prevent weeds and this also helped with making sure they were all level with each other. My 3 year old loved helping me with this part. I was able to utilize the extra dirt in other places around the yard so another added bonus.  Second -  Lay material down (tarp, boxes, or whatever material you choose to use) to help prevent the weeds from coming up under the bricks. Third -Pick the layout of your bricks. I laid them all the same direction and went with a slight angle...
